What this site is about
The idea behind the site was originally to enable family and friends to keep track of where we were, what we had been doing and where we were off to next. However, the practicalities of being on the boat have shown that it is more of a retrospective look at what we have done.
We sailed to the Baltic in 2007 and got our first taste of sailing around beautiful Denmark. In 2008 we made our way to the Cruising Association’s Centenary Rally at Rungsted near Copenhagen, and then sailed up the West Coast of Sweden, before returning to Augustenborg in Denmark for the winter. We didn’t sail in 2009, but returned for a short cruise in 2010. The boat returned to Southwold for the winter, and went back to Denmark in 2011.
In 2011 we fought against a miserable summer’s weather, but managed a short trip to Flensberg in Germany, and then around the island of Als in Denmark. 2012 saw us head north to Assens and Grenaa, but then had to postpone a trip further north because of the weather, and lack of time. Instead, we headed back south to the delightful Tuno, amongst other places.
We missed 2013 due to other commitments but returned in 2014 for an excellent summer that took us back to the West Coast of Sweden, but with many new places visited, both in Denmark and Sweden.
Wandering Star II returned to Southwold for a refit at the end of 2014. We had a shorter trip in 2015 partly due to the weather, and partly due to work on the boat taking longer than expected.
In 2016 we are planning to join the Cruising Association Rally from Ystad to Kalmar, in Sweden, and then explore the east coast of Sweden, overwintering in Kalmar.
