Summer 2011

I use the word “summer” in the loosest possible sense! The weather was pretty dire, both in Denmark and the UK.

We decided to head off down to Flensburg in Germany to start our cruise, intending to head further south. There was very little wind to begin with, and we had a pleasant first night anchorage SW of Sonderborg at Vemmingbund. The water was like glass the following morning, and so we motored off towards Flensburg. The marina at Flensburg was being renovated when we got there, and after a night we decided to head back north. The wind came back with a vengance, and we had an unpleasant day heading north in 30 knots of wind, and driving rain, on the nose.

We found a nice marina at the head of the fjord, at Egersund - the Marina Minde which had excellent facilities.

Unfortunately our woes continued, as I was unwell for much of the rest of the trip.

We anchored at Dyvig, at the north end of Augustenborg fjord, and then returned to the marina at Augustenborg. Luckily Phil and Sarah found plenty to do with the dinghy, the inflatable kayak, and the bikes.

Not our best season!
