Wandering Star II

What this site is about

The idea behind the site is to enable family and friends to keep track of where we are, what we have been doing and where we are off to next.

We sailed to the Baltic in 2007 and got our first taste of sailing around beautiful Denmark. In 2008 we made our way to the Cruising Association’s Centenary Rally at Rungsted near Copenhagen, and then sailed up the West Coast of Sweden.

This is where all the latest updates to the site will be. I hope to update it frequently as we travel around the Baltic. However, as I discovered this year, it is not always easy to update the site as we go along, so please bear with me if the updates aren’t as often as they should be!

Latest News: Spring 2010

We will be visiting Denmark in April to do some work on the boat, hoping that there are no problems after such a cold winter. Then we hope to be back in late May, so watch this space!

Summer 2008 Route

This is the route that we took during the summer of 2008. Click on the link at the bottom of the map to enlarge the map and look at the route in closer detail. It is not an accurate representation of our actual course!

For those of you interested in the logistics of crew change:

This was the first year it was necessary to arrange crew changes. We assumed that Århus was the nearest airport for us, but it was a long drive, and so with a little investigation we discovered Billund, about an hours shorter drive away. Billund is virtually on top of the Lego park.

Nick and Annie flew in to Århus and back home from Copenhagen

Annabel came out to Århus and left from Billund.

Annabel and the boys joined me at Rungsted for the Cruising Association Centenary Rally, arriving at and leaving from Copenhagen.

Sam arrived at Copenhagen, and left from Gothenburg

Annabel and Ed arrived at Gothenburg, and she and the boys left from Gothenburg. Annabel returned to Gothenburg.

All the arrivals and departures used Stansted.

We used the Harwich to Esbjerg ferry to transport us to and from Denmark.
